最近のジブリ風AI画像のトレンドを見ていると、よく考えさせられます。スタジオジブリを知らない人たちでさえ、自分の写真をジブリスタイルのアニメ画像に変換して楽しんでいるのです。
けれど、もしあなたがジブリのアニメ映画に触れたことがあるのなら、ぜひ聞かせてください。
あなたにとって、ジブリとは何でしょうか。
これを備忘録として投稿しています。
わたしにとって、ジブリとは次のようなものです。
①私の想像を目に見える形にしてくれたものです。
初めて見たジブリの映画は「千と千尋の神隠し」でした。それが映画なのか、夢なのか分からなくなるような、不思議な気持ちになりました。
宮崎駿監督がつくった美しい景色やキャラクター、そして物語にすっかり引き込まれて、私は現実と夢のあいだをさまよっているようでした。
「本を読むと想像力が伸びる」と言われますが、私にとって「千と千尋の神隠し」は、まるで本のようでした。想像力に翼を与えてくれて、生きていることを感じさせ、自分を信じることを教えてくれた作品です。
この映画は、二度と同じようにはつくれない、かけがえのない傑作です。
②人間の基層について考えさせられるものです。
「もののけ姫」は、16年の企画期間と3年の制作期間をかけて作られた映画です。そこにはただ「自然と共に生きよう」というメッセージだけでなく、「人間はなぜ生きているのか」という根本的な問いかけが込められています。
「ジブリの教科書１０―もののけ姫」という本の中で、生物学者の福岡伸一さんは、人間と自然、そして神々とのつながりがどれほど複雑であるかを説明しています。
この映画では、「善」と「悪」がはっきり分かれているわけではなく、それぞれの立場や考え方がぶつかり合いながらも、それぞれに正しさがあることが描かれています。人間、動物、神々が、それぞれの生き方や信じているものに従って行動しているのです。
③決意することの大切さを教えてくれるものです。
「ハウルの動く城」の主人公ソフィーは、まさに「決意が固い人」です。辛いことがあっても、ソフィーはいつも落ち着いていて、まわりの人たちを支えます。
彼女の本当の強さは、行動だけでなく、人の中の「良いところ」を見つけて、その人が成長し、自分の怖さを乗り越えられるように手助けするところにあります。
「ハウルの動く城」は、単なるロマンチックな冒険物語ではありません。そこには、「平和」、「自分を受け入れること」、そして「愛の力が人を変えること」という深いメッセージが込められています。
言うまでもなく、たった一つのシーンを作り上げるために注がれた時間、努力、そして創造力は本当に称賛に値します。愛を信じること、勇気を持って進むこと、困難に負けずに立ち向かうこと、そして限界をこえて夢を描くことを教えてくれたジブリチームに、心から感謝します。
What Does Ghibli Mean to You?
The recent trend of AI-generated Ghibli-style images makes me wonder — even people who have never seen a Studio Ghibli film are enjoying turning their photos into Ghibli-style anime art.
But if you have experienced a Ghibli film, I would love to hear from you: What does Ghibli mean to you?
I’m posting this as a personal note.
For me, Ghibli means the following:
1. It Gave Visual Form to My Imagination
The first Studio Ghibli film I ever watched was Spirited Away. I couldn’t tell if I was watching a movie or dreaming. Director Hayao Miyazaki wove together scenes, characters, and storylines so seamlessly that I felt like I was drifting between reality and fantasy.
People often say that reading books strengthens creativity and imagination. For me, Spirited Away was that book — it gave wings to my creativity, made me feel truly alive, and taught me to believe in myself.
It’s a timeless masterpiece — one that can never be recreated.
2. It Made Me Question the Basis of Human Existence
Princess Mononoke took sixteen years of planning and three years to produce. This film is much more than a simple message about coexisting with nature. It forces you to question the very foundations of human existence.
In Ghibli no Kyokasho – Mononoke Hime, biologist Shinichi Fukuoka explains how the film portrays the complex relationship between humans, nature, and the spiritual world. The film doesn’t present a simple battle between good and evil, but instead paints a rich ecosystem of conflicting yet valid perspectives — where humans, animals, and gods all act based on their survival and belief.
3. It Taught Me Determination
Sophie, the protagonist of Howl’s Moving Castle, is an epitome of determination. Despite facing hardships of her own, she remains calm and steady, supporting those around her.
Her true strength lies not just in her actions, but in her ability to see the goodness in people, helping them grow and overcome their fears. Howl’s Moving Castle is not just a romantic adventure; it carries a deeper message about peace, self-acceptance, and the transformative power of love.
Needless to say, the time, effort, and creativity poured into producing even a single scene is truly commendable. Cheers to the unwavering spirit of the Ghibli team, who taught us to believe in love, walk with courage, face challenges with determination, and dream beyond limits.
